Dear Susie Cannon,

This is an application for the job of Music Teacher. As a recent graduate from Shih Chien University in Taiwan, I have my Master degree of Music Education in George Mason University. My ability to build positive relationships with students and peers, variety of teaching experiences and recent coursework in curriculum and instruction strategies, integration and writing across curricula will enable me to be a great asset to the Elementary and Middle School District.

I started to serve as a piano tutor during my undergraduate days. Teaching is like a mirror which could actually let me see the blind spot of my performance and comprehension for reflecting on it and making modifications. In teaching children, it’s necessary to use the language and method that they understand. For instance, I had a student he wants to attend the piano Level exam. I would set goals to my students and encouraged him to reach the target. I had another student, she is an adult, that year, she wants to apply Master of Music Therapy, however, she was study special education, she needs to improve her music theory to attend the exam. I taught her almost a year, and finally, she got an admission letter from a very famous school. Now, she is a music therapist in Taiwan.

I have several volunteer experiences, such as, “Services group Freshman-welcome-camp”. That is the activity from my high school. In the process of leading the camping team, I did not only play the role of a senior schoolmate, but also the listener and the one who shared experiences and provided ideas. I am a good

listener, empathetic and analytical person. I have a lot of patience to help people. I totally agree your belief, “All students, regardless of race or socio-economic status, deserve a top quality, rigorous college-preparatory education”. When I be a music teacher in this school, I will encourage students to reach the target. When they have some problem, I will provide some methods and guide them to solve the problem. I will lead them grow up on the right track.

I truly believe that we are all lifelong learners and would love the opportunity to share this belief with the students of the Elementary and Middle School District. I hope to soon discuss with you how my experience and abilities can best meet the goals of your district. Thank you for your consideration.
